The Ultimate Pet-Friendly Summer Guide: Toronto Edition

Summer in Toronto just hits different.
The patios are buzzing, festivals are everywhere, and the city comes alive… and if you’re anything like me, you’re thinking: “Where can I bring my dog too?”
Good news—you’ve got options. LOTS of them.
Toronto really shows up for dog lovers in the summer.
One of the biggest highlights is Woofstock. Which is basically a full-blown dog festival with shopping, treats, contests, and thousands of happy pups. It’s chaotic in the best way.
You’ll also find smaller pop-ups like Doggie Fest Toronto happening throughout the season. Perfect if your dog loves attention and socializing.
And honestly? Even regular summer events, outdoor markets, waterfront walks, and local festivals, often welcome leashed dogs.
Dog-Friendly Patios (Because… priorities)
Let’s talk patios, because this is where summer really shines.
A few great spots to check out:
Hair Of The Dog Neighbourhood Pub & Restaurant – fun, relaxed, and very on-brand for dog lovers
The Arch Café – cozy, cute, perfect for a coffee date with your pup
Union Restaurant – great vibe for a casual dinner
More and more patios in Toronto are becoming pet-friendly, especially in areas like Ossington, Queen West, and the waterfront.
Parks, Trails & Easy Adventures
Sometimes the best days are the simple ones.
Take your dog for:
A walk along Harbourfront Centre
A beach day at Cherry Beach (dog-friendly areas!)
Or a relaxed afternoon in Trinity Bellwoods Park (my favorite!)
Fresh air, space to explore, and a tired dog at the end of it? Perfect.
Pet-Friendly Staycations
Need a little escape but don’t want to leave your pet behind?
Check out:
1 Hotel Toronto – beautiful, nature-inspired, and very pet-welcoming
The Anndore House – stylish and pet-friendly
Because yes—you can have a mini getaway and still bring your best friend.
Real Talk...as fun as all of this is… not every dog loves crowds, noise, or busy environments.
And that’s okay.
Some dogs are happiest with:
✔ A quiet walk
✔ A familiar routine
✔ One-on-one attention
And that’s just as important.
